a week in nashville…

So last week was the Nashville Americana Festival and along with Karen and our good friend Jamie Hailstone, we trotted off to see The Civil Wars at the Cannery. Unfortunately they had cancelled due to John Paul losing his voice…

We were disappointed, but only until they gave us wristbands for the whole festival-any venue-any band-any night.

That night we feasted on The Muscle Shoals review…

2 hours of exquisite musicianship and songs from the last 30 years and more…then The Blind Boys Of Alabama brought their brand of gospel Americana to send us away satisfied…

on top of that we saw…

Mollie O’Brian and Rich Moore, JD Souther…

a brief break for a road trip to Memphis…

Then continued with Patrick Sweaney, and then 2 bands that completely blew me away…The Deep Dark Woods

 and Hymn For Her

This morning I listened to their song NOT off their record: Lucy and Wayne and The AmAIRrican Stream… It stopped me in my tracks, then i wrote this

Hope you check them out and enjoy

The rest of the week and Jamie’s stay with us included 29 different chilli’s tasted at the Leiper’s Fork Chilli Cook Off and a fine performance by our friend Brett Detar,

at the Foobar Nashville, singing songs from his brilliant album Bird In The Tangle available to download for FREE!

that was an excellent week in Nashville.
