The Making Of Kingdom Rise

By Awaken

this week

So this week at last i get to go in to the studio and record some of my own music. So watch out for an onslaught of pics of people playing things.

Since my song Eyes was on the Project zero album Grafted It’s felt like it’s time to bring some of these songs to light.

There’s a lot of good things happening this year and I’ll tell you all about it very soon, in the mean time it’s time to take a day or two from helping other people make music, and make some of my own…

A few shots from my session last week with Roy Fieldes produced by Kyle Lee

sometimes it’s like you have your face pressed up against a window wishing you could get let in and be a part of what’s going on inside.

on tuesday i got to be a part of a fantastic session at the sound emporium studios nashville.

the project, funnily enough called “let me in”, is a collection of paul mccartney songs produced by phil madeira.

phil and the guys are like a who’s who of the americana/roots world here in nashville, used to working with the likes of emmy lou harris, robert plant and buddy miller

this was my second session for phil madeira and i loved every minute…no click or grid, all playing at once… if one person screws up you all have to start again…

i was on dobro/acoustic/12 string and bgv duties

thanks guys for a great day!

Having fun recording with Desperation band last summer for their record Center Of It All which has just been released.

I played ok but getting a reaction like that from producer Paul Mabury means a lot!

The boys did a fantastic job and much respect to guitarist extraordinair Matt Paco

Advent with Stu g Day 13

This was taken from the OSS recording sessions for the Society ep. I was recording guitars on the song Beautiful Savior

Making music is supposed to be fun - one thing that marks OSS is fun in the studio.

We are aware that we don’t get to play out that much and would like to remedy that next year, but we are working together all the time. Just this week I was working with Mabes on the new Ike Ndolo record and the Desperation Band albums and also with Jason on the new Ben Cantelon record. When we were on the road with Matt Maher and All Sons And Daughters in September we took a mobile studio on the bus and cut guitars for Chris Tomlin and Dband…so good!

My friendships with Paul Mabury and Jason Ingram have been a lifeline for me since Delirious? finished and we moved to Nashville.

There’s two things that have kept me focussed in a period of crazy transition:

1 My work with Mars Hill in Grandville Michigan

and

2 One Sonic Society

Hope you like this insight into our studio world
